The Christmas Concert of the Bambino Gesù Foundation of Cairo
Great Success for the Christmas Concert of the Bambino Gesù Foundation of Cairo: Music, Solidarity, and Emotion in Rome
An evening of art and spirituality at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie al Trionfale, with authorities, cardinals, and ambassadors, in support of vulnerable children and women.
Rome, December 12, 2025 – Last night, the Christmas Concert of the Bambino Gesù Foundation of Cairo ETS captivated over 700 attendees at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie al Trionfale. Chaired by Monsignor Yoannis Lahzi Gaid, former Secretary to Pope Francis, the event united music, art, and the values of solidarity and fraternity, marking the first edition after the Association’s transformation into a Foundation. Established in 2020 following the Document on Human Fraternity signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Foundation embodies the Pope's spiritual testament, with a mission to protect the most vulnerable through transparency and charitable action.
The Firefighters' Musical Band, directed by Maestro Donato Di Martile, performed a masterful repertoire, embellished by the voices of soprano Minji Kang and tenor Luca Vissani. The presentation by Claudia Conte alternated musical interludes with institutional speeches. The Honourable Emanuele Prisco, Undersecretary to the Ministry of the Interior, praised the Foundation's concrete role as a model non-profit organization. Prefect Pierluigi Faloni, Presidential Advisor, emphasized the seriousness of the Foundation's transformation in promoting fraternity and human rights. Monsignor Gaid inspired the audience by recalling the power of giving: in 2024, 35,000 meals were distributed and care provided for over 10,000 vulnerable children. He launched an appeal for the "House of Hope" (Casa della Speranza), a shelter for women victims of violence and their children.
Speeches by Cardinals Marcello Semeraro, Angelo Becciu, and Domenico Calcagno lauded the humanitarian commitment, wishing for further achievements. Attendees included: Monsignor Antonio Raimondo Fois; Ambassadors from the Arab League, Azerbaijan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Palestine, and Honduras; and Lorenza Bonaccorsi, representing Mayor Gualtieri.
Key Projects: The “Oasis of Piety” Orphanage (Orfanotrofio “Oasi della Pietà”) with a culinary school (managed by Francesco Mazzei); the “Bambino Gesù of Cairo” Hospital in partnership with the Pediatric Hospital of Rome; the “Brother” Solidarity Network (Rete Solidale “Fratello”) (35,000 meals in 2024); the “Salus” Mobile Clinics (Cliniche Mobili “Salus”) with Policlinico Gemelli; and the House of Hope in Italy for supporting victims of violence.
The Foundation extends its gratitude to Institutions, Authorities, Members, and participants for an event that raised awareness about solidarity and inclusion, confirming its ethical and cultural role.
