LA SALERNITANA NEXT TO THE BAMBINO GESÙ OF CAIRO ONLUS ASSOCIATION

Confirming the great attention paid to less fortunate individuals, and especially to minors in difficulty, the U.S. Salernitana 1919 launches an initiative in support of the Bambino Gesù del Cairo Onlus Association (http://bambinogesu-eg.com) for the construction of the Oasi della Pietà orphanage, in Cairo (Egypt), a project promoted by His Holiness Pope Francesco on the occasion of his recent trip to the United Arab Emirates.

The Oasi della Pietà Orphanage, to which His Holiness Pope Francis wished to donate in 2019 an authentic copy of Michelangelo's Pietà Statue, hence the name given to the Orphanage, will welcome children and minors in disadvantaged conditions and will address his attention to the path of growth and training of the same, in order to ensure each of them serenity, well-being and respect for their rights.

On the occasion of the Salernitana - Spezia match, Mr. Ventura's team will take the field with a special jersey that will have the logo of the Child Jesus Association of Cairo. The shirts, signed by the players, will be auctioned through the website www.charitystars.com and the proceeds will support the construction of the orphanage.

"I have always been convinced that football is an important sounding board for issues related to charity and solidarity," added President Marco Mezzaroma. "Salernitana has always been particularly sensitive to this type of initiative and we immediately joined with great enthusiasm to be able to contribute to a commendable initiative that takes the side of the most fragile, children".

“I personally know the wonderful people who have dedicated their commitment and passion to this beautiful cause. I consider it a duty on everyone's part to try to support them and encourage them in any way everyone thinks they can ”.
