On Sunday 31 October 2021, Roberta Feliziani's interview Monsignor Yoannis Lahzi Gaid, President of the Bambino Gesù del Cairo Onlus Association, was broadcast on the Unicusano TV channel.
The interview, which lasted 30 minutes, allowed the President to tell how the Association was born and what objectives it sets itself, basing its existence on the dictates of the document on "Human Fraternity" signed on February 4, 2019 by Pope Francis and by Great Imam Al-Azhar, with the aim of taking concrete steps towards "world peace and common coexistence" beyond any race and any religious affiliation.
Monsignor Yoannis explained to the public the primary objectives of the Association, namely to support the creation and management of two major projects: the "Oasi della Pietà" Orphanage and the "Bambino Gesù Women's and Children's Hospital" in Cairo, Egypt, in the area defined as "New Administrative Capital".
Monsignor Yoannis also told how the Association was born and how, despite the fact that it was in full pandemic, and without sufficient funds, it managed to carry out its projects with important results, thanks to the generosity and charitable support received. The same support that the Association today, more than ever, needs to carry out its projects and give real hope to so many children who live in conditions of great privation.
In giving other examples, Monsignor Yoannis told of how important it is to give these children a future, where their home is, among others also talking about the example of the Child who at the exhortation of Pope Francis was brought to Rome in order to have the very expensive care that he needed, for all his life, care that he could not have had in his land.
Monsignor Yoannis closed the interview by exhorting to support the Association, recalling that "those who keep silent agree" and that silence in the face of injustices is complicity. In front of the life of the most unfortunate children, everyone's heart must open up.
