On July 21, at 6.30 pm, in the Sala Belle Arti, located on floor minus 1 of the Hotel Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria, in via Alberto Cadlolo, 101, in Rome, the ceremony will be held to celebrate the second year of life of the Bambino Gesù of Cairo Association, inaugurated on 21 July 2020.
On this occasion, His Excellency Omar Obaid Al-Shamsi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Italy, and Monsignor Yoannis Lahzi Gaid, former Personal Secretary of His Holiness Pope Francis, President of the Bambino Gesù of Cairo Association, will present the activities of the same Association.
The evening, conducted by Claudia Conte, will see the performance of the singer Arisa and the soprano Min Ji Kang, as well as the participation of numerous illustrious guests, including, in order of communication of their presence, His Eminence Card. Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, Professor Sir Magbi Yacoub, President of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, Prof. Avv. Lucia Calvosa, President of Eni, Doctor Paolo Ruffini, Prefect of the Communication Department of the Holy See, His Excellency Antonio Zanardi, Ambassador of the Military Sovereign Order of Malta to the Holy See, Dr. Massimiliano Raponi, Health Director of the Bambino Gesù Hospital, Dr. Hugo Patrick Doyle, Head of International Public Affairs at Intesa Sanpaolo and Dr. Alessandro Cassinis, Auditor General of the Holy See.
The aforementioned Association, established in accordance with the contents of the Document on "Human Fraternity", signed on February 4, 2019, in Abu Dhabi, by His Holiness Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, aims to protect children in need of assistance. To this end, it initiated the construction of the "Oasi of Pietà" Orphanage and the "Bambino Gesù Women's and Children's Hospital" in Egypt.
The Oasi of Pietà is a home for orphaned children, whose name refers to the gift that His Holiness kindly wanted to allocate, in 2019, to this project, which is a copy of Michelangelo's statue of the Pietà.
The Bambino Gesù Women's and Children's Hospital is a pediatric hospital infrastructure, which will make use of the consultancy, instrumental and training support of the "Bambino Gesù" pediatric hospital in Rome, in order to ensure reception and medical - health assistance to children with pathologies and, throughout the gestational period, to pregnant women.
