Charity evening of the Bambino Gesù of Cairo Association to celebrate the two years since its foundation

An evening dedicated to solidarity organized by the Bambino Gesù of Cairo Association which, in just two years, has worked to help children and families in need of hospitality and help in Egypt. Born in compliance with the contents of the Document on "Human Fraternity", signed on February 4, 2019 in Abu Dhabi by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, the Association wanted to celebrate at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Rome under the banner of "solidarity is contagious".

On stage, in addition to the presenter Claudia Conte, Italian and Egyptian artists: the singer Arisa who sang "wonderful love of mine" accompanied by maestro Giuseppe Gioni Barbera and the fashion designer Rafeek Antoun Malouk with the Love Made in Italy Association founded by Giada Albanese. Immediately after there was the charity auction curated by Alberto Zambon, a charity auction and the moment of great emotion for the signing of the Memorandum with the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation for the medical treatment of children suffering from heart diseases by Sir Magdi Yacoub.

In addition to the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Omar Obaid Al-Shamsi, who underlined "the importance of the pope's visit and the signing of the document, Monsignor Yoannis Lahzi Gaid, former Personal Secretary of His Holiness Pope Francis, President of the Association, spoke. “Bambino Gesù of Cairo”, with the ambassador of Egypt to the Vatican, Mahmoud Talaat: “I am a son of Egypt and of Italy. I thank everyone for giving us the opportunity to keep the flame of our mission alive and for working towards the realization of this dream”. Monsignor Gaid showed those present the activities that the Association has carried out in these two years, documenting the testimony with videos, including the video entitled "Not gifts, but tiles". The evening was attended by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints; Professor Sir Magbi Yacoub, president of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation; Antonio Zanardi, ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to the Holy See; Massimiliano Raponi, medical director of the Bambino Gesù Hospital; Hugo Patrick Doyle, Head of International Public Affairs at Intesa Sanpaolo; Alessandro Cassinis, auditor general of the Holy See. And again the tenor Francesco Grollo, the journalist Biagio Maimone, the singer-songwriter Fabrizio Venturi, artistic director of the Sanremo 2023 Christian Song Festival.
